Week 7 Assignment

NAEYC IDEALS

I. 1.1 To be familiar with the knowledge base of Early Childhood  care and education and to stay informed through continuing education and training.
I really relate to this ideal and believe that it is very important to keep up on the education and trends of the field through training and education  In our state it is a requirement that staff working with children participate in continuing education and training related to the field.
I.1.5 To create and maintain a safe and healthy setting that foster children's social, emotional, cognitive and physical development ad that respect their dignity and their contributions.
I am very passionate about this one and I make sure that my staff as well maintain the proper environment to foster the development of children.
I.2.7 To share information about each child's education and development with families and to help them understand and appreciate the current knowledge base of the early childhood profession.
My center holds conferences twice a year and more often if parents request, we do it for all ages but we especially encourage the parents of the preschool class so that they understand the growth of their child in relation to the expectations of  kindergarten.

DEC IDEALS

We shall be responsible for maintaining the appropriate national, state or other credential or licensure requirements for the services we provide while maintaining our competence in practice and research by-ongoing participation in professional development and education activities.

Again professional development is important to learn all the changes that go on in the field to truly be professionals in the field.

We shall demonstrate our respect and concern for children, families, colleagues and others with whom we work, honoring their beliefs, values, customs, languages and culture.
Honoring everyone that touches the lives of the children and being respectful of the beliefs, values and customs of others culture is very important to create a diverse environment in the facility.

We shall advocate for equal access to high quality services and supports for all children and families to enhance their quality of lives.
Being an advocate or learning how to become an advocate is important to me, to be a voice for those that have no voice.

  1. I agree that is important that we foster the proper environment for the children. I have seen that in some situations we are their only time of peace and quiet. We become home when some of them have no home or a troubled home.

  2. My state requires continued trainings as well for early childhood professionals. It is important to stay current with new research and curriculum. It helps refresh ourselves and our teachers when returning to the classroom.

  5. It is true that as educators we must remain knowledgeable because we must always be able to answer questions of parents and other professionals as it relates to Early Childhood Development. Also you are correct that it is our duty to maintain a safe and appropriate environment for young children.
